Apps
GigOps Athlete
GigOps Athlete is the app your athletes use at an ActionOps event: their comps and start positions, live results, travel, their pass and alerts from you. Athletes open it in a browser at the GigOps Athlete address (the link in their invite) or in the GigOps Athlete iPhone app. It belongs to ActionOps, and you add athletes in the web app: in the left menu, choose Athletes. Crew and judges use GigOps Crew instead.
How do I invite an athlete to GigOps Athlete?
- In the left menu, choose Athletes.
- Choose Add athlete, fill in their details including an email, and choose Add athlete.
- GigOps emails the athlete a welcome with a set-password link for GigOps Athlete.
The card says Never signed in until they first sign in, then Has signed in. If email is off for your company, you see "Athlete added, but email is off: send them the app link yourself." To send the link (again) at any time, choose Send app invite or Resend app link on the athlete's card. If the person already has a GigOps login, the message says so.
How do I invite many athletes at once?
- In the left menu, choose Athletes.
- Choose Import.
- Paste one athlete per line: first, last, email, and optionally nation, discipline and bib (up to 500 rows). For a list in any other shape, paste it and choose Read with AI: the rows are rewritten into the box for you to check.
- Keep Email each athlete an app invite ticked.
- Choose Import.
Each athlete with an email address gets their own invite. Untick the box if you want to send invites later, one by one, with Send app invite.
How does an athlete sign in for the first time?
- Open the link in the invite email.
- On Set your password, type a password of at least 8 characters in Password and Confirm password.
- Tap Set password & sign in.
After that, they sign in with Email and Password and Sign in. If the link is invalid or has expired, or the email never arrived, they type their email on the sign-in screen and tap Forgot password, or never got your link?. If the address is on an event, a new set-password link is emailed.
What does the athlete see on My comps?
My comps lists every upcoming comp the athlete is entered in, with its status (Scheduled, Delayed, Running now, On hold), the date and time, the course, and their Bib, Start position, Heat and number of Runs. If the running order is not set yet, the card says so. When you have set a shuttle that gets them there in time, the card shows which shuttle to take and when it leaves. Practice and inspection slots you schedule for their comps or courses appear under Practice & inspection.
What does "Awaiting guardian consent" mean?
When the organiser requires a guardian's consent for athletes under 18, an under-18 athlete whose parent or guardian has not yet consented sees Awaiting guardian consent on My comps and on each comp card. Their entries stand; the note goes away once the guardian consents through the link they were emailed.
How do athletes follow their results?
The Results tab shows each comp under Running now, Finished and Coming up, with the athlete's place ("Currently 2nd of 12", or their final Place), their score or time, and each run as the judges score it. It refreshes by itself every few seconds while one of their comps is running. Leaderboard opens the comp's full board. If you chose to hide the board until the comp is complete, it says "The organiser shows this board once the comp is complete." A Watch link appears on a run when a clip has been added.
Where does an athlete see a doping control entry?
When the organiser logs an athlete in a comp's chaperone log, the athlete sees it under Doping control on the Results tab: the comp, the chaperone, and when they were notified, arrived at the testing station and were tested. It is read only.
Where do athletes see their travel?
The Travel tab lists Flights & ground, Hotels (with dates, room number, address and reference) and Shuttles that you booked for them in the Travel module. If nothing is booked yet, it says so, and mentions that a team manager can also propose travel for them.
What is the Pass tab?
Pass (titled My pass) shows the athlete's name, bib and a QR code to show at the gate and the athlete area. The code refreshes automatically about every 20 seconds, so a screenshot will not work.
How do I send alerts to athletes?
The Alerts tab shows the athlete's notifications, such as a comp that moves, goes on hold or is called, and messages from you. A number on the tab shows how many are unread, and Mark all read clears them.
An athlete rides at more than one event. How do they switch?
When the same login is entered at more than one event, a button with the company's name appears at the top. Tap it and pick the event under Your events. The app reloads with that event's comps and travel.
Why is a crew member or judge sent to GigOps Crew?
GigOps Athlete is only for athlete accounts. Anyone else who signs in sees "This account is not an athlete. Opening GigOps Crew instead..." and is sent to GigOps Crew. If the same person is crew at one event and an athlete at another, the app switches to their athlete profile first. An athlete who signs in to GigOps Crew is sent here in the same way.
Why can't my athlete sign in?
Check the message under the sign-in form. If athletes are switched off for your company, sign-in is refused with that reason. A session also expires after a while; the screen then says "Your session expired" and they sign in again. If they never set a password, send them a fresh link with Resend app link on their card under Athletes.
