FX rates

FX rates holds the exchange rates GigOps uses to convert budget lines, ticket counts and settlements between currencies. In the left menu, under Money, choose FX rates. Every seat that uses money reads these rates; Owner, Company Admin, Tour Manager, Finance and Legal seats can add currencies and change rates.

How are rates written?

Every rate is the amount of that currency per one US dollar, shown as a pair such as USD/EUR. For example a EUR rate of 0.92 means one dollar buys 0.92 euros. US dollars are always available and need no rate.

How do I add a currency?

  1. Choose Manage currencies.
  2. Under Add currency, pick the Currency. The live rate fills in both rate fields when it is available.
  3. Check the Budget rate (per USD): the rate you planned with.
  4. Check the Current rate (per USD): today's rate.
  5. Choose Add currency.

The currency then appears in every currency picker in the app (budget lines, sub-categories, ticket records, deal terms).

What is the difference between the budget, current and override rates?

The table under Rate overrides has three rates for each currency:

The cards at the top show each current rate and how far it is from the budget rate.

How do I set my own rate?

Type the rate in the Override rate box for that currency. It saves as you type, and budget totals and other converted figures update straight away. Use this to lock a contracted rate or model a what-if.

How do I get today's rates?

Choose Refresh rates. GigOps fetches the live rate for each tracked currency and updates the Current rate column; the pill at the top shows the time of the last refresh. Refreshing never changes your override rates. If a currency is not in the rate provider's data, a message names it and its rate stays as it was.

How do I remove a currency?

Choose Manage currencies and Remove next to the currency. A currency marked In use (by a tour or a ticket record) cannot be removed.

Which currency are totals shown in?

Totals in Budget, the CFO view and Scenarios are shown in your company's Default currency, set by a Company Admin under Users & access > Company settings. That currency needs a rate here (unless it is US dollars); without one, totals are shown in US dollars.

Why does Settlement say there is no FX rate?

When a cost or ticket record in a show's settlement is in a currency with no rate here, Settlement shows a warning naming the currency and counts that amount as dollars. You cannot lock the settlement until you add the currency here with Manage currencies.
